Binders are used in all subjects for students to become organized
and build a portfolio of the work that serve as a reference guide to past and
present assignments. Also, the binders chart the growth of student work over
time and keep them focused on the content of the particular unit we are
studying. Binders are used for Math, Science, and Social Studies. Work that is
completed in class goes into the binder. A majority of this work are assignments
we complete in class either as a whole group or individually. By completing the
work in class and keeping it in a binder students are able to access information
easily, which is one of our Common Core Standards. When assignments are given in
class I check for completion at lesson’s end by looking over their binders to
make sure students are being thorough and accurate when completing their work.
All binders are allowed to go home and I encourage students to share them with
their families at home. They are a great study tool and way to ensure your child
is keeping up with his/her assignments.
